Gail Barfod is an Australian artist based in Sydney. Primarily an oil painter working in abstract styles,

Gail draws her imagery from a desire to explore the landscape form in a contemporary drama. Gail's paintings focus on the play of colour and design within the natural world. Her expressive brush strokes explore organic forms and spatial concepts through the emotional play of light and colour upon the painted surface. Gail also works in mixed media, pastel and acrylic, exploring energy and rhythm in mark making. Influenced by the atmosphere and drama of the great English master, William Turner, Gail also draws on the energetic mark making of Van Gogh and the Abstract Expressionists to capture the 'spirit of a place.' Gail's work is held in private collections in Australia, U.K., U.S.A. and Mexico.
